Message As I'm sure you know, when converting to MAP from MAF, the Haltech uses air intake temperature and manifold absolute pressure ("MAP") to calculate air density. Ideally, you would install both the MAP port and the air intake temperature port directly into the intake manifold, not on the intake piping.

Some people will tell you not to install the temp sensor into the intake manifold, because the manifold will heat soak when the car gets warm, and throw off air intake temperatures. The problem with that rationale is, when the intake manifold heat soaks, it increases the temperature of the air passing through it as it goes into the cylinders. If the air temp sensor is ported into the intake piping, the Haltech cannot adjust for the increase in air temperature, because it does not see it. I've spoken with Haltech customer service about this issue specifically, and they recommend installing the temp sensor into the intake manifold.

In regards to the methanol injection nozzles - Most meth injection companies recommend installing the nozzles in a clear path of intake piping, furthest away from the throttle body, at 90 degrees to the flow. They also advise not to install them: before the turbo (so it doesn't damage the compressor blades) or before the intercooler (because the meth may pool in the intercooler and limits the differential between ambient temp and charge temp).

So install your IAT in the intake manifold, and install your meth injection just after the intercooler, and you should be good-to-go.

Hope this helps.
